Club History The Club was founded on December 3rd 1908 in the rooms of Captain Forbes in the High Street, Southampton in the Red Lion Public House. The Club was affiliated to the Society of Miniture Rifle Clubs. The first President of the Club was Lord Roberts from 1908 till 1915. Our first Club House and range was on Southampton Common near today's University. Present disciplines .22 Prone shooting at 20 yards Light Weight sporting Rifle (LWSR) Bench-rest at 20 yards Affiliations National Small-bore Rifle Association and the Hampshire Small-Bore Rifle and Pistol Association Southampton and District members shoot at Bisley in The National Championships and at other venues around the county and country Membership Probationary membership is for six months after which time prospective members will be invited to join the club. Restrictions: Use of ranges is restricted to probationary and full members only. By law we are required to inform the police that you wish to shoot at the club. The minimum age is 14 for membership - It is a requirement of the club that a Parent or Guardian to be in attendance at range at all times.
